Suggested Breakdown of Coach and Assistant/Teen-Assistant Responsibilities
The goals of the Junior Greyhound Athletic Association Cheerleading program.
The instruction of cheerleading basics. These basics include:
- Working within a group or team in a safe and fun environment
- Correct head, hand, arm, leg and torso positioning
- Jumps and kicks
- Individual and group precision
- Good voice projection
- Teach all safety precautions associated with basic stunt instruction
Coach Responsibilities:
- Direct practice – instructional, fun, varied, non-critical, take attendance
- Choose cheers/dances/sidelines
- Introduce new cheers/sidelines
- Determine formations at games for sidelines, hello, half-time
- Attend games – call out sidelines to appointed captains to correlate with action of game.
- Maintain list of girls names, phone #s, e-mail addresses
- Communicate with parents
- Choose captains – permanent or on rotating basis
- Hand out/collect uniforms
Assistant/Teen-Assistant Responsibilities:
- Teach/demonstrate hello, half-time, sidelines
- Teach/demonstrate correct arms, hands, jumps, kicks and voice (basic skills)
- Teach new sidelines/cheers
- Aid coaches with formations
- Attend games, if available – aid in choosing sidelines
